Dipropylene glycol

1) Dipropylene glycol is an ideal solvent for many fragrances and cosmetics. This raw material has excellent co-solubility with water, oils, and hydrocarbons, and possesses a mild odor, minimal skin irritation, very low toxicity, a uniform and consistent isomer distribution, and excellent quality.

2) Dipropylene glycol can also serve as a coupling agent and humectant in various cosmetic applications. In the field of perfumes, the usage proportion of dipropylene glycol exceeds 50%; whereas in other application fields, the usage proportion of dipropylene glycol is generally within 10% (by weight). Some specific product application areas include: hair setting lotions, skin cleansers (cold creams, body washes, bath lotions, and skin care lotions), deodorants, face, hand, and body skin care products, moisturizing skin care products, and lipsticks, etc.

3) Dipropylene glycol also holds a place in unsaturated resins and saturated resins. It imparts superior flexibility, crack resistance, and weather resistance to the resins produced. The product's long-term resistance to yellowing is trustworthy.

Main Applications

Cosmetics and Personal Care Products

Used as a humectant and solvent in skin care products (face creams, lotions), shampoos, body washes, perfumes, and other products; it can lock in moisture and improve the skin feel and stability of the products;

Adjusting the viscosity of formulations, enhancing the solubility of fragrances and active ingredients, and extending the shelf life of products.

Pharmaceutical and Food Industries

In the pharmaceutical field, used as a solvent or excipient in oral liquids, syrups, ointments, and other preparations to help dissolve drug ingredients and increase the stability of the preparations;

In the food industry, used in small amounts in food additives (such as fragrance solvents), complying with food safety standards (FDA recognizes its safety).

Chemical and Industrial Fields

Used as a solvent in coatings, inks, cleaning agents, etc., to dissolve resins and pigments, and improve the leveling and gloss of products;

Used as an intermediate for synthesizing polyester resins, polyurethane foams, plasticizers, etc., and can also be used to prepare crosslinking agents for unsaturated polyester resins;

In the tobacco industry, used as a solvent and humectant for tobacco flavors to maintain the moisture and flavor of tobacco.
